This area is actually part of Queenstown – ie the new town that was constructed in the 1960s and 1970s following a push to have more public housing for the masses that were living in almost squatter conditions. Imagine that.
A place of interest just a stone’s throw away could be the Education Ministry heritage center set amidst HDB apartments. However it is only open during very specific dates and times – probably to cater to student visits.
A stroll will lead to the former railway track that is almost parallel to the MRT line in this section. Just over the line would be a forested canopy of black and white houses – former colonial homes for the officials and officers of the British Army.
