Yet another new theme park?

We’ve written about the happiest place on earth. How about a theme park for the world’s most prolific circus? Yes we are referring to Cirque du Soleil. If you are a fan, you probably have watched at least one of their many traveling acts around the world. In a number of locations such as Las Vegas and Tokyo you can catch shows at permanent venues. What if Cirque decided to lift entertainment to yet a higher level?

What can that be we hear you whisper…

Why a theme park of course! Perhaps this is old news to you. But for us this development is definitely thrilling!

Currently in the works, this theme park is located in Mexico’s Nuevo Vallarta. Well, specifically at the Vidanta resort. In 2018, imagine walking amongst what appears to be Mayan ruins at your next show. All these within the confines of a luxury resort, or so the creators purport.

We checked out Vidanta’s website and its seven resorts. LOL we spotted the comment from some Trip advisors about the timeshare presentations…heheh. Wow still hawking these products in an age of AirBnB huh? You know the ‘discounts’, free shows and meals they bundle into a presentation…ok we have a timeshare too from many years back…not that we regretted.

Anyway, this is yet another example of experential tourism lifting off. You see this almost everywhere these days. The tried and tested regimes of showing you a relic or two does not seem to work anymore. In order to have a ‘share’ of your mind, companies are coming up with ever more spectacular experiences.

If financials were not a concern, would you journey to this latest theme park?

  1. I live in Las Vegas. There are 7 on-going Cirque shows in town. I don’t think I need to travel to see yet another Cirque show…
Plus, we, the Las Vegas residents get to hear the stories of some performers getting hurt or even dying from accidents. I think I stick to the beaches.

  2. Maybe, Suan, but I think I would prefer to wander through the ruins of places like Chichen Itza, or more traditional Mexican towns. Not that I haven’t enjoyed several Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas. –Curt

  3. I did not know that Cirque du Soleil was ( or will be) in Nuevo Vallarta. I go on vacations every year in this area. I like to stay in a small fishing village north of Nuevo Vallarta and in a resort in PV, by the marina. In Nuevo Vallarta there is only resorts/hotels… for me it is boring but maybe families with little kids are happy to do nothing . We stayed in Nuevo one week the very first time we went to Puerto Vallarta. I am talking 2002!!! The pool was huge and the water was cold. It was too far to take the bus to go downtown.. anyway it is fun that you talk about it in your blog. As for Cirque du Soleil, I saw 2 shows in Las Vegas ( Ka and O ) and here in town a traveling show but I do not recall the name. The shows are great , costly but still I think this is a wonderful time to see them. which one did you see ?

    1. We saw them way back too – Saltibanco and also watched Ka and O in Las Vegas.
But for some reason we are a little tired with the concepts that the cirque presents. Not sure why though.

      1. Cirque du Soleil is in town ( Vancouver) once a year I think, I only went once locally. I forgot we also saw the show The Beattles. If I was going to Las Vegas again ( it is always possible), I would like to see Love. thanks for your reply !!

  4. Wow! That’s pretty exciting, I’ve always wanted to go to an actual Cirque du Soleil show, but I’ve only ever managed a few performances from my old pole dance instructor on YouTube – This will be a bucket list item for sure!
