Where castles are beauty queens

Imagine a beauty pageant where the contestants are not svelte men or women in bathing suits or national costumes. These contestants are immobile. They can be immense or petit, tall or vertically challenged. Yes we are talking about a pageant of the Chateaux (plural) of France.

Does not sound exciting enough? Don’t turn off the TV!

Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting….the Miss Chateau de Loire pageant 2017! Try this with a little French accent…

Today we reveal to you a bevy of beauties vying for this prestigious title. The contestants all hail from the Loire valley, testament of the ability of the region to produce many a beauty queen that will mesmerize you, if not make you fall head over heels.

As a panelist, you will be making a critical decision to vote for which beauty deserves to be crowned the winner. It will be hard choices for you. For example how can you compare Villandry with Chenonceau? Or even Chambord with petit Cheverny? Look at Angers, she is not upset because you think she is too large, but perhaps she’s concerned you might think being more “fortressy” is not in vogue…does this make you curious? Oui we hope!

Honestly how would you judge them? Why not read this essay to help you make a decision?

And when you are done with a first review, consider which one you would want to take home with you visit. Or make that plan to drive through the whole of the Loire to see the beauties as they strike a pose for you in their hometown.
