Spiritually France!

Well, the new year’s not so new anymore…But hey there is always a reason to celebrate! Would you pop the champagne?

Can you guess which vineyard the bottles are from in the featured image?

Why they are from the Castellane winery in Champagne, France. Yes! One of our road trips took us to this northeastern corner of the country, where it is only the sparkling wines produced here that can be called ‘Champagne’. It’s a badge of honor reserved for a unique pedigree. Disagree all you want, it’s the law and upheld by the French vehemently.

Like any typical wine tour, it was more for Suan then for Mel because he’s the designated driver who have to make sure everyone (that’s Mel and Suan) returns home safely from this spiritual endeavour. And dive we did into the realm of the spirit world, understanding technical terms such as secondary fermentation etc. We think we emerged as PhDs in wine tasting from all of this, sparkling ones that is. Or did it look sparkling because we tested too much?

So we’ve done it. We’ve drank champagne in Champagne. heheh

But lest you think that Champagne is only for the sparkling wine, think again! There is a serious historical aspect to this region. One which back in medieval times was the place where French Kings were crowned!

Let us show you what you can see and do in Champagne, besides seeking spirituality!

Author: Mel & Suan

Mel works his day job for a living, but lives for antiquities, history and geography at all other times. He enjoys writing and thought sharing and obviously traveling. Suan is a homey person, who like girlie stuff such as cross stitching etc. Enjoys shopping & modeling for Mel. What a match!

    1. Yeah but now it is possible to have sparkling wine from all over the world. Practically every wine region in the world now produce champagne too. Only they cannot call it as such!
