Special report: Ayutthaya

A side view for us!

Wow we have been really having the whale of a time! The city of angels had indeed humbled us! LOL. There is so much to see and do in the city and around it. We did quite a fair bit of shopping and eating in the last two days.

And it was time to get out of the city a little. Where else but to the ancient capital that is Ayutthaya?

Home to so many relics of the original Kingdom that was brought to an abrupt end by the Burmese in the 1760s, the city was literally “littered” with monuments around every corner… People were playing soccer in fields around Stupas we jest you not!

And how can be leave out the Buddha head in a Banyan Tree picture at Wat Mahat That? This one’s instagrammed so much that we will not write too much about it. You’ve just gotta see it for yourself the next time you take an excursion outside of Bangkok. Only an hour’s drive north. Our day out started at 6:30am and ended at 7:30pm. Could not resist to take the BTS to have dinner at nearby Terminal 21 shopping mall (next to Asok station)…

Will be continuing our adventures for the next few days in Bangkok city itself. Oh no! More food tasting again! LOL. Journalog will surely come as we share with you what we ate, where we shopped and what we saw…stay tuned.

        1. Well, when you get there you will notice that the Buddha statue head is rather close to the ground. So, it is not like it was on the body of a sculpture and got covered by the roots (re Angkor). With no sign of other parts of the stone carving, it appears placed in there!

      1. Ah, so that’s not the same old city then. Haha! I was just such a tourist! I still am. Lol! I’ve been to Thailand (but Bangkok) so many times, I can’t seem to bring myself there again. Maybe on my way to Asia one day, I’ll stop for a couple of days. 🙂
