The vain goat?

Yet another fun animal picture that we could not help to share while we were leafing through our photo albums one afternoon.

Water Palace36
K-pop star?

In a journey to Bali some years back, we were walking around the water palace of the last Karangasem King in the eastern part of the island. It was a beautiful day and there was virtually no one else here.

So we walked where we pleased and were enjoying the sights of the palace when we scanned the horizon and noticed something odd.

There was this little goat shed and it seemed out of place. So we approached it gingerly, but then these guys started braying loudly, most likely because they thought we are coming to feed them (and goats are said to eat anything we are told).

Turns out these goats are a unique breed. They appear well groomed too! See how this fella has his hair combed like a Korean boy band star?

Where’s this rock star to be found? Go carry a poster of him and wait at:

  1. Goats… just about my favorite domestic animal! What I remember about Bali animal-life, however, was the geese marching out to the rice paddies on silent feet following the farmer carrying a flag and the ‘wild’ monkey sitting on my shoulder and grabbing peanuts out of my shirt pocket. 🙂 –Curt

    1. LOL! Yes the geese are quite orderly aren’t they? Well, they help to weed the fields without the use of pesticides eating almost anything…And the monkey, aren’t we glad the lunar zodiac year is over! The Year of the Monkey has been a tumult!

      1. I loved the geese, marching out to do their work early in the morning and marching home in the evening! The monkeys were fun but it can be disquieting having them crawl over you. We particularly noted that in the Amazon. –Curt

  2. Loved Bali! A friend of ours has a beautiful Airbnb villa out there and we are thinking about taking advantage of that sometime soon. Also a great reason to go back to singapore too. I missed the goats but we did see the coffee house with the giant flying fox and luwaks all over the place!

                    1. Jealous! We love singapore. We were there for a few day before and after our trip to Bali. We might be going back this year not sure yet. We want to try and make it to sydney for their new years celebration too.

                    2. Yeah we went there a bunch of years ago and we loved it! Its just so expensive, but worth it. Any suggestions for what to do while in the Amsterdam area? Maybe gonna hit parts of germany too. We are there almost 2 weeks.

                    3. Oh Amsterdam! We lived there 3 years (10 years ago though). Let us count the things you can do….
                      1. Museums (all around…tadaa ‘Museumplein’)
                      2. Canal walks, must do.
                      3. Red light district. Can’t take photos but good for the experience.
                      4. Zaanse Schans, a short hop out of Amsterdam.
                      5. Depending if you are there in spring, the flowers of course!
The list will go on…we have quite a few posts and page essays on them!

                    4. Oh well we think so! At least the way we recalled Amsterdam when we lived there. The flower fields actually start to bloom already by then. It will be yellow Narcissus and then Hyacinth both purple and pink varieties.
