Rooftop selfies

While searching for places to see Singapore’s panorama for free, we came up to a blog by a Russian man. His hobby was to take photos of cityscapes from the roofs of the tallest structures and he had spent some time in Singapore.

Somehow, he managed to scale up some of the tallest buildings and take fantastic photos of our island. To be honest, we really did not know how the city looked like from the angles he took the photos. And we do wonder a little about how he managed to get through security? Sometimes what people can do scares you. In yet another post, another Russian couple was featured in the SCMP some months back after sharing their daredevil stunts on the top of Hong Kong’s iconic skyscrapers.

This has been going on for quite some time now. We recall how it started with some boys trying high wire stunts on top of closed power plants in Russia or was it somewhere in the Ukraine. This “fad” has gained a lot of traction since then and spawned a league of competing daredevils, or wannabes. Latest fad? Jump into a pool, from a real height!

There has been tragic moments, but you have to appreciate what they shared on the web. Brings a different perspective.

Will you follow these folks on instagram? What do you think?

  1. There was actually a documentary on this. I forgot what it’s called. There are a lot of newbies and the “originals” aren’t happy not so much because they are copied or there are lots of them now but something to do with the essence of it or something.
It’s interesting. It’s amazing. I might follow… maybe… but I’m not following anyone now. Hmm, so maybe not.
I like the angles and perspectives that we can all relate to… yeah, I’m jealous because I’m scared of height.

  2. I’ve seen a few accounts on Instagram of these kind of daredevil shots and though they are awesome, I don’t know whether I should commend them for taking such a unique shot or criticise them for risking their life for a picture. What if a random gust of wind were to come along?

  3. Is that your feet on the skyscraper up above?? I love the perspective… but you won’t be seeing something similar on my blog…. ever!! There is no way I could be even that brave (and I realise thats nothing compared to the stunts you talk about above).
